Der Reserveheld plot

Ralf Horricht is called up for reserve duty. But in the midst of his honeymoon with the beautiful Susanne, he doesn't feel like taking his shift. All attempts to get out of it fail and it will be with a heavy heart, but he has to go to the 'Volksarmee' (people's army). Impressed by his fame, his roommates try to make his time in the barracks as pleasant as possible. Captain Hottas, also called 'Dynamit', is the only one who opposes this idea. But when Horricht shows up his wife in the garrison, Hottas is unrecognizable. Mad with jealousy, Horricht is tempted to misuse a general's uniform to humiliate Hottas.
