Tommy (Tim Allen) is an ex-con who tries to seduce his probation officer Angela (Jeanne Tripplehorn). His struggle to return to a normal life is further complicated by the manipulative older sister Viki (Sigourney Weaver) and her sarcastic, annoying husband Ed (JK Simmons).
