Franco Pietrasicca, a petty thief who has just been released from prison, and Prince Francisco Ribanera di Espinosa, a poor nobleman, become partners in order to get money to pay their debts. First they try to steal a precious necklace, but they fail; then they try to sell a fake Stradivarius, but this also backfires. The two eventually have to wrest money from Francisco's uncle. However, the prince, who is an addicted gambler, loses all his money to Franco in a game and becomes his servant...
