Chivalrous Charley plot

Charley Riley, who exhibits chivalrous behavior toward ladies, is sent west by his uncle, expecting the rough life to harden him. Back in New York, however, Charley gets involved in two adventures and ends up in jail. Later, just as he's about to enter his apartment, a young woman begs him for shelter from her pursuers, and out of hospitality, he offers her his apartment for the evening. Her father appears the next morning and forces him to marry her.
