Call It a Day plot
"... You Can't LAUGH Fast Enough!"
The first day of spring has a profound effect on the Hilton family. The father, an accountant, finds himself incapable of working, and when he tries to work it is because of an actress who has convinced him to do her bookkeeping. The mother is misunderstood by a friend's brother, who thinks he is supposed to marry this woman. The eldest son sulks because he wants the 'motorcycle of the continent' and his father continues to forbid it. The eldest daughter mourns the end of a miserable relationship with an artist twenty years her senior. The youngest, still a teenager, dreams in her morbid way about her hero, Dante Gabriel Rossetti. And all this in one day: the first day of spring.
