California or Bust plot

Jeff Daggett (George O'Hara) owns a garage in the Arizona town of Rockett, but he neglects his business because he spends so much time developing a new type of car engine. President Holtwood (John Steppling) of a renowned car factory and his daughter Nadine (Helen Foster) run into trouble near Rockett and are helped on the road by Jeff. Naturally, Jeff takes his chance and tells Holtwood about his invention, who immediately has his chief engineer Wade Rexton (Irving Bacon) come over. However, Rexton sees Jeff as a rival, both at work and in his love for Nadine, so he does everything he can to make Jeff disappear from the scene. Based on a story by Byron Morgan.
