Baba plot
A film about the tumultuous relationship between Ma Lisheng and his school-age son Ma Che. As a low-level government official, Lisheng finds his greatest challenge in raising his son. Here he oscillates between trying to bond with him (and even getting drunk together) and completely scolding Che. Che decides that the best way for him to get out of his father's regime is to find a wife. He thinks of the mother of his school friend Qing Huaiyuan.
