"People from the city world are phony."

René Sabin, an engineer by trade, is disappointed by the failure of his projects and leaves his village in the south. He goes to Paris with friends. In the capital, he comes into contact with people who have a dubious reputation, including Alex Krakau, who doesn't shy away from shady business.
