Abschied plot
Peter Winkler lives with his fiancée Hella in a boarding house in Berlin. He is offered a job in Dresden, through which he hopes to finally be able to marry Hella. He tells the news to all the guests in the guest house. They eventually tell Hella too. She in turn conceals from Peter that she has ordered a dress and a hat without having enough money for it.
