Samia plot

Why do people make the dangerous journey from Africa to Europe? What hopes and expectations do they have? Somali runner Samia Yusuf Omar was one of them. She was the last runner to cross the finish line at the 2008 Olympic Games and her photo went around the world. Shortly afterwards, however, she no longer received support from her country and this situation was the beginning of an unbearable odyssey for her, which finally ended in 2012 near Lampedusa in the Mediterranean Sea. Like so many others, Samia was searching. Looking for a better life and especially to live a life worth living and perhaps also to help her own family.
