Pike River plot
"In the fight for their men, they found each other."
In 2010, a massive explosion at the Pike River coal mine kills 29 men. In the wake of the tragedy, a friendship develops between Anna, who lost her husband Milt, and Sonya, whose son Ben has died. They draw strength from each other and rebuild their shattered lives by fighting back against the mine bosses, the judiciary and the government. With official responses slow and accountability hard to come by, the two take their case to court and to the attention of the entire country.
