Manto plot
This film tells about the life of the controversial and troubled Indian-Pakistani writer Saadat Hasan Manto. He was born in Ludhiana, British India. He wrote mainly in the Urdu language and produced 22 collections of short stories, a novel, five series of radio plays, three collections of essays and two collections of personal sketches. His best short stories are highly regarded by writers and critics. Manto was known to write about the harsh truths of society that no one dared to talk about. He is best known for his stories about the partition of India immediately after independence in 1947. In this biography he is addressed by the censors for his artistic choices.
