Lenz plot

Loose adaptation of the novella by Georg Büchner about the life of poet and stage innovator Jacob Lenz (1751-1792). He is regarded as the most outspoken representative of the Sturm und Drang, a movement in German literature during the Enlightenment. Jacob Lenz is a somewhat shy, but driven and sparkling young man. Early on, however, he suffers from delusions and severe anxiety attacks, which will eventually stifle his artistry. The setting in this film is adapted from 18th century Germany to New York in the early 1980s.
