La Bolduc plot
Montreal, the early twentieth century. Poor and uneducated Mary Travers meets Édouard Bolduc. They get married and have a family. When Édouard loses his job at the factory, Mary agrees to replace a violinist at a festival. The young woman soon finds success as a folk singer in a rapidly changing Quebec, where the struggle for women's rights is rekindled for the first time. Mary, known to the general public as La Bolduc, is soon to be faced with major moral debates: stay with her children or go on tour to provide for her family.
