Der Passfälscher plot
The 21-year-old Jew Cioma Schönhaus lives in 1940s Berlin. To avoid deportation, he creates a new identity for himself with few resources. He meets Gerda with whom he falls in love. With his talent for imitating identity cards, he manages to save many lives, but in doing so he puts himself in danger. He reaches the point where his only hope of survival rests on an identity card with his own name.
