Giuditta e Oloferne plot

An Assyrian king lays siege to the Christian city of Bethulia and sets a three-day ultimatum: surrender and allegiance to the idol or destruction. A dancing girl tries to seduce him and then kill him, but they fall in love. The monarch nevertheless clings to the ultimatum; his beloved beheads him and in doing so inspires her fellow townspeople to a successful revolt.
