"Way down south in the land of jamboree!"
Captain Jackson's ship, the Ellabelle, is Mississippi's last showboat. However, it has become a haven for social misfits like con artists Tony and Curly, itinerant musician Jeff Calhoun, and actress Yvette and a professor. When Jackson accidentally picks up a shipment of whiskey, Tony and Curly, assuming the captain is a wealthy distiller, plan to hijack the boat and its cargo.
