Young auto mechanic Casey Owens has designed a new turbine engine, creating a jet-powered car and breaking a speed record. Rich playboy Stanford Rogers hires Casey to build him one of those racing cars. Stanford wants to participate in the 'Tri-State Endurance Run'. Automotive engineering student Chuck Manning discovers potential flaws in the race car's design. Eadie Manning, Chuck's sister, falls in love with Casey. After a failed test, Stanford reverts to the old, trusted techniques, but Casey and Chuck still want to improve the turbine engine.
