Ravenhawk is a Shoshone Indian who was wrongfully sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of her parents. By making her pay for this, the true killer Thorne has been able to realize his plans: to build a nuclear waste dump on Shoshone land. It all seems perfectly thought out by Thorne, but after 12 years Ravenhawk, grown into a woman of immeasurable strength and endless courage, returns unexpectedly to her land. There she finds her people oppressed and broken.
