La Yuma plot
The film is about the young female boxer Yuma, who wants to leave the neighborhood where she lives with her often absent mother, unemployed pedophile stepfather, drug-addicted teenage brother and her mother's two younger children. She loves and protects the children, but detests the adults. Her boyfriend Culebra, a street rat, tries to control her by telling her that boxing isn't for women. But the wild and strong Yuma continues to train and begins an affair with Ernesto, a young middle-class college student studying journalism.
