During the Russian civil war, Olga Sokolova has to deliver bread for hungry children in an orphanage. Her companions are the Red Commissioner Vladimir Gorbach, the sailor Sasha Andronov and the stationmaster Zaytsev, who secretly carries three gold bars. Along the way, the four have many adventures.
