The southern counterpart of the typical Scandinavian thrillers. A strong story, captivating characters, beautiful images and simply well made. A thriller that you may have seen before in terms of concept, but that was simply put together beautifully. Wonderful setting of Spain in 1980. With the shadow of Franco still behind the corner. I didn't really expect much from this movie, but it still appealed to me somehow. And luckily discovered this gem.

Maybe some local praise, but the film still won 10 Goya's. Cinematographer Alex Catalán has also worked on Habitación en Roma. The man knows his job!

Detective about two detectives who have to solve the murder of two girls. The atmosphere of the film set in 1980 after Franco's period is very good. But it is a difficult movie. A film for the experienced viewer and where you have to pay very close attention and not weaken. There are a lot of people participating who all have a link with the story somewhere. And there are also regular shots in the film that seem insignificant but later on are very important for the story. And that's actually the weak point of the otherwise great film. Too much is happening and too many people are involved. Very often 105 minutes is a great time for a movie. Often even too long. But in this case, perhaps the story was more suited to a miniseries, so that certain aspects and characters could be better highlighted. Now some events and characters sometimes came out quite out of nowhere and you had to think carefully where this could be traced back to earlier in the film.
