ugh.

Never seen it before, although I was somewhat aware of the image of the film. One in the line of 80s slashers, but at a respectable distance from the big names. Not a bad choice in itself, so around this time of year.

However, the film itself is on the poor side. Okay, in terms of setting it couldn't be much more appropriate, but that's about it. Sad acting, poor kills and an acute lack of tension made it impossible to enjoy this seriously.

The fashion is hilarious. Those sweaters and shorts are nothing short of hilarious. And the conscious ending may also be there, it makes no sense at all, but it is so silly and in your face that it is quite funny. More successful as a comedy than as a horror, but I'm not afraid it was intended that way.

Pure pulp, only for the hardcore 80s slasher fan.

1.5*

A movie I wanted so badly to watch and find on DVD or Bluray that it really became a thing. So a little personal hype.

Then suddenly I had it twice in a week. Once on DVD in a box set with the other two volumes and once as a double disc in a collector's Blu-ray version. anyway.

The comparison with the first Friday the 13th is logically no stranger, since the setting is somewhat the same. They travel to a summer camp located on a lake. Teenagers together produces friction and flying hormones.
Instead of a camp that is only populated by the leadership, the children are present here.

The whole thing seems rather low-budget and that makes it all the more interesting that there is also quite an exciting film that only occasionally drowns in the amateurish nothing. The story is on the one hand obvious, on the other it is not and ends best in a mindfuck. But also suddenly and that's a shame.

Child is hit in the head by a speedboat while swimming. The blow makes him think that he is a girl and in puberty the primary sexual characteristics prove to be a present obstacle. At this camp all possible moments come along when one might discover that he is not a she. Because being able to continue to hide, anyone who comes too close and the secret is (almost) unraveled.

I admit. In terms of acting, it was to cry. And sometimes really laughable. The police officer's mustache was hilariously fake. The massacres also looked a bit amateurish. It belongs in the list of slasher films from the 80s, but certainly does not match the level of the best-known slashers from that period. But in the end I didn't think it was that bad and the twist was quite a surprise.

3*
