Death Comes to Pemberley plot

Mr Darcy and Elizabeth have been married for a long time and have two sons. We meet them when it is very busy in and around their country house Pemberley. This is where the last preparations are made for a big festive ball. However, the festivities are shattered when Elizabeth's sister Lydia bursts in with terrible news: her husband Wickham is dead! Murdered, it seems. However, the fatal victim turns out not to be Wickham, but his traveling companion. The miniseries follows the extensive police investigation into the murder of Wickham's traveling companion.
