Westen plot
"She Can See Her Future, But Can't Escape Her Past."
Two suitcases, a school bag and a plush toy. That's all Nelly Senff and her son Alexei take with them for the start of their new life. It is 1978, three years after the death of Wassilly, Nelly's friend and Alexei's father. Since then, Nelly has wanted to leave the GDR and make a fresh start in the West. They end up in the Marienfelde refugee camp in West Berlin, where the West German secret police immediately want to interrogate Nelly about Wassilly.
