The Letters plot
Danghram, India, 2003. A car speeds down backstreets with Father Benjamin Praagh, the man appointed by the Vatican to advocate for Mother Teresa's canonization, at the wheel. He rushes to the deathbed of Monica Beshra, whose Mother Teresa's healed tumor is one of the two required miracles for her canonization. Later he goes to Father Celeste van Exem, a friend and spiritual advisor to Mother Theresa. He corresponded with her for forty years and the letters paint a picture of Mother Teresa and her motives and fears.

Stevenson brings great dignity to her role as Mother Teresa in this reverent, solid biography of the nun who followed her divine calling and, until her death, devoted herself entirely to the poor, the sick and all other outcasts of the earth. Hauer plays a priest who meets with Teresa's contemporary and mentor [Max von Sydow] to find evidence that the church can use to confer sainthood on Mother Teresa. He draws on letters Teresa wrote over the years. The retrospective is limited to the years in which Teresa received and followed her calling, with one flashback to her youth in Skopje and a reconstruction of her Nobel Prize acceptance speech.

Beautiful drama about the strength, perseverance and the unwavering strong faith of a very beautiful person. The beautiful story captivated me more than paying attention to the acting performances. The beautiful music did catch my attention. Between all the scary thrillers and pief bang poef films this was a breath of fresh air.
