A film made with very minimalistic means. Still, the makers managed to make a very entertaining film. The rubber monster still looks pretty good and some effects still managed to surprise me with the quite high quality.

The cast acts very exaggerated and the credibility is of course not that high, but that makes this pulp all the more entertaining.

Due to the short playing time an easy to sit through pulp film that can probably only be digested by the real fans of this kind of stuff. I do like it from time to time.

Although I find the plot interesting, I actually only turned on this movie so I could say afterwards that I saw 'Creepozoids' (!). A super cool title that summarizes all the 80s pulp in one catchy slogan. Never heard of DeCoteau, and when I look at what he apparently pooped out, I wonder if this movie can ever be better than that title.

It certainly isn't, although it does have a real pulp look. An apocalyptic world that comes into contact with mutants, special effects of a questionable but clever level, a delicious synthesizer soundtrack and a crappy cast. I was a bit shocked when Quigley discovered the shower and left him untouched for a moment. Fortunately, a soft-erotic shower scene with a porn tune followed quickly after. Of course, at that very moment your brother's new girlfriend walks in to get acquainted...

Creepozoids is amateurish at times, although I didn't think the special effects were bad considering the low budget. The Alien monster was doable, but I actually liked the baby and the make-up on the victims who were mutating better. The fight with the plush rats was ridiculously fake. The film just doesn't want to become exciting, and that's because of the bad acting and actually also the location that doesn't come across well. Two rooms and a few corridors is what I can remember and that's not enough for a good build-up of tension.

The running time is fortunately very short at seventy minutes, which makes the film just about watchable. Pulp with a capital P, but certainly not the most fun.

Extremely silly film, but also entertaining at times. Giant rats are thrown from off-screen at the screaming actors; a shoulder injury allows a character to sense when it’s raining; and, oh yeah, a humanoid rubber monster suit. A little movement and you’re done. It’s not really convincing at all… And it’s only a little over an hour long.

But there are some interesting ideas in Creepozoids, especially once it stops trying to copy other films (ALIEN, people!). Like a head that bursts open and lo and behold: a monstrous baby crawls out of its skull. The low-budget make-up effects do have their charm, and that C-80s vibe the film exudes remains nice.
2.5* and for entertainment should be possible.
