Probably a film that very occasionally sees the light of day because of the presence of Louis de Funès. But his role is very small and atypical so you don't really have to watch it for that.

In any case, it is a captivating film version of Gogol's (theatre) comedy. A kammerspie without specific film-technical gadgets and where all weight rests on the acting performances. And they are excellent.
