Film is based on the Tiszaeszlár affair. Director Pabst follows the story of the 1882 murder case quite faithfully. The virulent anti-Semitism is presented as if it were the most normal thing in the world. Not only the blood libel is on offer. Therefore, a warning for user salt bag. The anti-Semitic trope of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion is even mentioned by one of the actors, although it is an anachronism.

Fascinating film, especially if the subject interests you. The 1990 Hungarian film Tutajosok is a more modern version of the murder case. However, the film suffers from senseless animal suffering, which makes Der Prozeß preferable.
