Happy Birthday, Wanda June plot
Harold Ryan (Rod Steiger), an explorer and hunter, does not return after a journey through the Amazon jungle, leaving his wife Penelope (Susannah York) alone. Eight years later, Penelope, now an educated and independent woman, has finally come to terms with the loss of her husband Harold. She becomes engaged to Doctor Norbert Woodley (George Grizzard) and moves on with her life. Only their son Paul (Steven Paul) still believes that his father may be alive. Then Harold suddenly reappears. Based on the play of the same name.
