Hugo Claus makes his debut at the age of 19 with his first novel and writes thousands of poems, dozens of plays and more than twenty novels, the best known of which is still 'The sorrow of Belgium'. But Claus does not only write, he also directs theater and film and paints. After living with Alzheimer's disease for two years, Claus opted for euthanasia in 2008. With archive footage of Claus and the cooperation and testimonies of Cees Nooteboom, Thomas Claus, Arthur Kristel, Hugo Van Den Berghe and Hilde Van Mieghem, among others.
