Een Dansend Hart plot

The 23-year-old Niek Zervaas is severely physically handicapped. During the first 18 years of his life, people think that he is also mentally retarded because he cannot speak. And that's how he is treated. Until, with the help of a technique developed in America, he learns to make himself understood. Then Niek suddenly turns out to be an intelligent young man with a rich inner world, who wants to help other people with their spiritual questions. His parents, who lovingly take care of him, are amazed. Niek gains admirers, writes a book and organizes lectures that attract hundreds of people who are inspired by him. His parents, meanwhile, are divided about this development. Especially when Niek, whose health is very fragile, indicates that he no longer wants to take medication for his epilepsy. Because according to him, death is a return home. Should they grant him his autonomous decision or give him his medicines against his will?
