20 Leugens, 4 Ouders en een Scharrelei plot

Dylan seems like a normal, difficult teenager. He has two mothers, who after an unpleasant incident are happy that the biological father Sjors is making himself heard again. And so Dylan is temporarily parked at Sjors, who decides not to tell his friend Bert directly what the fork is. A film about a spirited teenager, immature parents and their inability.

Three plus points: Musters plays his role quite nicely, the story is cliché but can turn out funny (it wasn't that it turned out completely bad here) and the shots that the film features on the food and drink (egg is fried in slow motion, coffee comes from the Nespresso machine, etc.) was a very nice find, which is also very nicely executed in the film. And now the rest. Verkooi is not an actor. He is a kid who happens to be spontaneous and self-assured (because that seems to be the only requirement for contemporary Dutch actors) and happened to roll into Hilversum as a baby. And as is usually the case with Dutch cinema, you will continue to be asked for films if you were already working in them at a young age. Don't forget the rest of the cast. Except for Musters, everyone plays a very flat character in 20 lies. Not to mention that girl who plays Verkooien's sweetheart. What a cringeworthy kid. 20 Lies was the worst telefilm of the year and also one of the worst of the last ten years. That doesn't say much though. Most telefilms are not of high quality, but most of them are amusing. This entire production resembles an extremely annoying Dutch amateur theater group with a camera in front of them. Waste of time, folks. Quickly set up something else.

Nice to have seen. Well played and an entertaining story that is quite funny at times. Towards the end it got a bit too busy and too dramatic for me. Not great, but not bad either, in my opinion. A small enough. 3*

The 15th birthday of grumpy adolescent Dylan [Nils Verkooijen] degenerates into a fierce (nonsensical) argument with his mothers Emma [Anneke Blok] and Ilse [Marieke Heebink], in which Emma suffers a few serious fractures due to an unfortunate fall. Coincidentally, Dylan's biological father Sjors [Marcel Musters] appears and in one of many forced twists, Emma and Ilse decide that it is better for Dylan to spend the next 3 months with the father he never knew. And that without any consultation with Sjors' beloved Bert [Mark Ram]. The screenplay and Smitsman's direction are at least as bad as the title. Swings rudderlessly between comedy and drama, with a seriously overacting cast. Aries is the only positive exception.
