"Get ready for Helen."
Helen Memel, 18, is in the proctology department of a hospital. She is awaiting surgery for an anal fissure sustained in an attempt to remove hair from her anus. Helen still hopes that her hospitalization will bring her divorced parents back together. She tries to force this by extending her hospital stay and talking about her past sexual experiments.

I don't know what Germans have to do with filth (see also The Golden Gloves), but in this case, the film seems primarily interested in breaking taboos by openly discussing things like hemorrhoids, menstruation, and sperm, and questioning gender roles in society. The film isn't very deep, neither about the girl who gets a kick out of filth, the subject of the film—though she seems traumatized and wants nothing more than for her divorced parents to get back together—nor about the film's themes. The film is mildly amusing, but also a bit dull and long-winded.

To my great surprise, I saw this film seven years ago. And I had a completely different opinion of it then than I do now. Forget my previous review. I'm starting over!
A young woman discovers her body and goes quite far in her experiments. Her hobbies: sex and growing avocados. The tone is set. A nice girl, a nice story, nice music, nice actors, nice humor, and nice design. The kind of movies I'd like to see more often.
