The cuddly spider.

Because the immense insect looks like a plush toy animal in this substandard monster movie. And it is anything but horrifying. The acting and the thin plot are really creepy.

For better horror work with spiders you are better off with 'Arachnaphobia' or 'Eight Legged Freaks'.

Mediocre.

You ever see the movie Jaws? It makes that shark look like a goldfish!

What a wonderfully bad film this remains. Definitely a So Bad it's Good movie. Everything about the Giant Spider Invasion is clumsy. The acting is terribly bad, but very funny. Certainly Robert Easton (who has already appeared in 140 films!) does his best to portray a filthy hillbillly.

The soundtrack is so cheap that it becomes fun again, and the Giant Spiders also have their charms....

It's also brilliant that this film still dares to make fun of Jaws.

Looking forward to seeing more films from Bill Rebane. OA Rana: The Legend of Shadow Lake and Twisters Revenge seem like hilarious films to me!

Such a giant bug movie (or spiders in this case) is always fun to watch. Quite an amateurish version, because it doesn't mean much. You may have the spirit of the times with limited technical resources, but this was very poor with giant spiders that looked more like mechanical plush animals with eyes like footballs. The first large spider that comes into view and makes the first victim is also nothing more than a plush thing.

But it's not just that. Because such limited CGI has its charms. The acting wasn't actually much better. It could also have been better in terms of plot development. The first spider on screen, and it is a normal tarantula, only appears after 28 minutes, which is after 1/3 of the film. And then it is terribly annoying that no one notices those animals even though there are several of them walking around in the house. We are only allowed to see a giant spider after more than 40 minutes, by which time we are already halfway there. In the meantime, a lot of posturing with NASA and stupid interventions with the local sheriff. No, that could certainly have been a lot better.

It did improve towards the end, but it never became really high-quality. Lots of laughter when such a spider eats a person. But come on, nice to see, but certainly not more than that.
