A warm friendship develops between her and regular customer Bepi, also known as 'the Poet' - she shares a love of poetry with this fisherman from the former Yugoslavia. A simple film with a simple story about simple people, who seek and find affection until the raw reality of everyday life comes to disturb their friendship. Quite endearing at times. In addition, a few beautiful shots of Venice (not those tourist information images we know from Hollywood). And what a beautiful, striking head Sherbedgia has: to sculpt like that.

Tender film about the friendship between a young Chinese immigrant and an old Italian fisherman.

In addition to the tenderness and poetry between the two main characters, attention is also paid to the fate of such immigrants, in the grip of a money-hungry organization and by no means free of action and thought.

Neat setting with beautiful images of the sea and the fishing community, excellent atmosphere of the "friendly" pub on the harbor, although the pettiness of the local population towards immigrants is heavily woven into the story.

Both protagonists are excellent in their roles

Good film, rightly acclaimed at several festivals.

A subdued film about an old Italian fisherman and a young Chinese immigrant. Sounds corny and far-fetched, but it isn't. The film doesn't force much and the chemistry between the two protagonists is clearly present. As expected, this friendship is frowned upon by those around them.

I also found it interesting - especially in the opening scenes - how labor migration can be expressed. Here not so much as modern slavery, but exploitation, few social rights, unenviable living conditions… these are elements lurking around the corner.

A film that is especially atmospheric, visually anyway, but also through the poetry. Everything very well worked out actually. A movie that I enjoyed.
