But when the Cold War and the Sexual Revolution collide, and the threat of a nuclear holocaust escalates, the two girls' lifelong friendship falls apart – confronting the desire and determination to survive.

Not bad. Also one of the first productions of A24. Characteristic also by the fact that they can also put the year 1962 (or the distant past) here in a not too expensive way.

Ginger & Rosa is more of an observation. That is why many users consider it a boring piece. I still found it a fairly interesting story and also a bit of a comparison. Where you still have young people with their naivety but their determination mapping the climate crisis, these girls, for example, do it against the bomb. And against the indifference, the daily worries and private lives that get in the way.

Nice to see Dakota's sister here, before she would appear in a gem like The Neon Demon. The other was less known. The decor of the 60s was, as mentioned, performed in a simple way; jazz music, clothing, a vintage car, the news reports. It came out reasonably convincingly. The painful relationships with the parents are also impressive.

Not too perfect, it was a bit too minimalistic for that, but certainly not bad either!

3.5*

Ginger [Elle Fanning] and Rosa [Alice Englert] are inseparable friends who were raised by their mothers in London. Now it is 1962 and the girls are at an age where they are becoming aware of the Cold War and the sexual revolution. These developments and severely test the friendship of Ginger and Rosa. Potter paints a compelling picture of a complex socio-political and emotional period for teenagers and leans on a strong supporting cast including Annette Bening and Timothy Spall, but Fanning (what do filmmakers see in her?) has still not mastered the art of subtle acting and is therefore not at all convincing.
