Jappeloup plot
Jappeloup is a horse that was considered too small to become a champion. Pierre Durand was a rider who lacked confidence and faith in the future. Together, rider and horse rode triumphantly into the history of show jumping. Their relationship was often as chaotic as the course of a show jumping competition – with elements of betrayal, loyalty and love. The duo suffered an ignominious defeat at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics when Jappeloup stalled and threw his rider over one of the obstacles. Pierre Durand had almost left the show jumping world, but thanks to the support of his wife and father, and Jappeloup's stable man's faith in the small but exceptional horse, Pierre Durand finally started again. He reconciled with Jappeloup and four years later they triumphed together in Seoul where they took the gold medal.
