In the town of Martin, Tennessee, Chip Hines, a six-year-old precocious child, has always believed that he has only had two fathers in his life; Cody and Joey. He has a great life. When Cody is suddenly killed in a car accident, Joey and Chip desperately try to get their lives back on track. Just as everything seems to be going better, Cody's will reveals that his sister will become Chip's legal caretaker. Joey's days with Chip's family seem numbered when he is taken from him. In his lonely life he now desperately searches for a solution. He doesn't have the law on his side, but his good friends do.
