Another nice western/adventure with the necessary action and shooting.

The cast is good and even Beek does a decent job.

3.5 stars

I can call myself a serious Western fan. It's all the more heartwarming that a film like this ended up in the DVD player.

This film has little to nothing to offer. It's clearly a cheap B-movie. Aston Kutcher is a huge miscast. He's not at all suited for a Western. The filmmakers certainly tried their best, but the result is very subpar. Not recommended for anyone who loves Westerns.

2* for the short playing time.

Almost eleven years since the last post... The historical inaccuracies have already been pointed out, so it's best to view this film as a sort of The magnificent seven meets Young guns, and as such it's quite decent. James Van Der Beek does a good job, Alfred Molina is a delicious villain as always, Randy Travis has a good face for his role as Sgt. Bones, and the director keeps the pace going well. It's a shame that Dylan McDermott, in my opinion, lacks any charisma as the lead, and while the intention is of course to portray Ashton Kutcher as a naive farm boy at the beginning, his comic enthusiasm starts to get on my nerves. Actually, the completely unknown Matt Keeslar makes the biggest impression as the surprising Suh Suh Sam... Oh well, all in all decent entertainment, and this film didn't deserve such a huge loss (budget $38 million, revenue three quarters of a million according to English Wikipedia).
