Distraught after the suicide of her gay boyfriend Matt, Alexa travels from Amsterdam to the small American town where he lived, hoping to uncover the reasons that led to his decision. Armed with a backpack and her video camera, she plans to make a movie about what it's like to be gay in Bumblefuck, USA. By the end of the warm summer, she has made a new and very special friendship, clashed with others and discovered more about herself than she could ever have imagined.
