In his younger days, Lenny Mancini (Robert Blake) was a promising boxer, who could take down his opponent like a human tornado. In the press he was nicknamed 'Boom Boom'. However, World War II ended his career and today he is a human wreck. What bothers him most, however, is that he has never been able to box the World Championship. His youngest son Ray (Doug McKeon) wants to fulfill his dream.
