Already my 7th Sabu now.

At times very dry again. I mention a red-tinted bar scene with wailing yakuza, a dream in which there is really hilarious philosophizing and the ending, which is also very strong and funny. Tsutsumi is convincing again and it is also nice to see Terajima in a role so typical for him.

"Actually I'm the victim. She ran into me, she stabbed herself"

Wonderful film and it's always nice to see an Asian work again. Feels like it did 6 years ago, when I was still involved in Asian films full-time. This was also a very fun, crazy Japanese gangster film. I know from the director that I saw Monday when I was 11, and it is still quite fresh in my memory. It just sucks that it isn't released on DVD anywhere. (Unlucky Monkey is also probably the only one of his released on Region 2.)

Anyway, so first we get some kind of bank robbery. Yamazaki (beautifully portrayed by the way) makes off with the loot and before he knows it his knife accidentally hits a young lady. Which is also the beginning of his misery. The stories in between are also beautifully and wonderfully black-comic, we follow, among other things, the members who are also in Yamazaki's gang, who have accidentally killed their boss and thus want to solve their problems in a clumsy, stupid way and... just like Yamazaki always does. get deeper into shit. The characters are all hilarious, especially that crazy assassin. Yamazaki was also, as mentioned, very strong. This may also be largely a comedy, but the torment, guilt and reproach that consumes him are depicted here in a truly chillingly realistic way, plus that voice in his head that keeps talking to him, but there too, without you as a viewer really noticeable, every now and then given a comic twist. For example, when Yamazaki happens to get a lift from that woman's parents. The ending, where the boss wakes up from his grave was also hilarious.

Just another very fun and darkly comic film that puts a smile on your face. But you also know how to relate to Yamazaki's situation. I say: extremely successful!!

Maybe not always of the highest quality, but this is a nice one. Comic without lapsing into absurdity. That opening scene alone with that semi-failed robbery that accidentally falls into the lap of the protagonist. Delicious.

But even after that it remains funny with the Yakuza, clumsy yes, that's how you could best describe the situation. However, I didn't find the story really coherent. Kind of messy, but definitely entertaining.
