A great tragedy/comedy that looks wonderfully away, it's all unreal but that shouldn't spoil the fun. I already like to watch movies that take place around and in the Gaza Strip. The fact that the film was shot in Malta does not detract from the film, it all looked more than good.

What a fun original film that manages to bring a profound story in a light-hearted, funny way. Hilarious moments pass in which ways the protagonist Jafaar wants to earn money with his found pig, knowing that in their culture a pig is an unclean animal. As a viewer you are also confronted with the problems surrounding the Gaza Strip, the misery and poverty of the people. But every time the director knows how to give his story a touch of humor and you also get a lot of sympathy for Jafaar's commitment, perseverance. Nice movie ! 7.5/10

I didn't know this Belgian production yet, but it is here on MM in the top 25 best Belgian films. Quite remarkable, especially for a comedy, because it is comical. The setting can also be called special somewhere in Gaza or on the edge of a Jewish settlement.
The story really gets going when a poor fisherman miraculously catches a pig at sea. Bearing in mind that a pig is unclean for Muslims, the man tries to keep the animal a secret. It produces a number of bizarre, but above all very nice scenes. It gets even more absurd when he can make money out of it.
In addition, there is also the necessary attention for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which is told in a light-hearted comical absurd way. Their house as a tower guard, the soldier who is addicted to soap, ... great. The bizarre situation in which the man ends up as a terrorist was also nice, but I found it secondary to the whole smear campaign around the pig.
