Le Cose Che Restano plot

At the center is a family torn apart who slowly tries to pick up life again after a painful event. Of course, each family member fills in this in their own way. Together, the family symbolizes Italy, a country in search of a new identity. Their lives are ingeniously interwoven with prominent social themes of the past twenty years: refugee policy, the war in Afghanistan and the rise of right-wing politics.

Phenomenal. Wonderful mini-series, captivating from the first to the last minute through the beautiful, richly varied family chronicle about love, sadness, anger, repression, despair and everything that makes people vulnerable people of flesh and blood.

Beautifully and subtly filmed and, moreover, fabulously, compellingly acted by an excellent cast. Too bad the series is already over after 360 minutes. I could have gone on for hours, because you don't get much better than this.

At least as good as the equally excellent La Meglio Gioventù, but a comparison with that miniseries is actually flawed.

The link with Meglio Gioventu is indeed quite big, but I found it less well developed and less atmospheric.

The storylines were also just a bit less.

Still extremely enjoyable.

-edit- and Valentina d'Agostino and Leila Bekhti were worth watching alone .

A somewhat mixed feeling with this Italian family epic. But it is the kind of Italian film genre that appeals to me, the atmosphere, the language, la vita d'Italia, la familia… So in itself I definitely enjoyed watching it. Rather strongly emotionally charged and tending to play on the sentiment.

A lot happens in the family. A tragic event tears apart the family that seemed so close. Everything went very well and then the cracks come. The parental home was a symbol and place for unity and life. That changes greatly as the miniseries progresses.

Many themes are discussed, including social issues such as trafficking in women and asylum issues. A bit too much of a good thing sometimes, but the director does manage to make it one whole. Towards the end you notice that the parental home once again takes a prominent place for the family, albeit with new people and new chapters. Great acting too, but a little less drama and more depth would certainly not have done the series badly.
