The Imperialists Are Still Alive! plot
Manhattan, after the September 11, 2001 attacks. Asya lives a hip and glamorous life while closely following the situation in the Middle East on television. When she is out one evening, she is told that her childhood friend Faisal has disappeared. He turns out to be the victim of an alleged kidnapping by the CIA. That same evening, she meets Javier, a sexy Mexican PhD student, and the romance blossoms. Javier finds Asya's conspiracy theories overly paranoid, but nothing in Asya's life is as it seems.
