Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman plot

"He's Icin' & Slicin'"

Sheriff Sam Tiler decides to take a vacation to the Caribbean with his wife and deputy sheriffs, in order to put the traumatic events of the previous film behind him. Their vacation is short-lived, however, as the killer accidentally becomes frozen again, and is brought back to life. And that's not all: it can now survive even in tropical temperatures. He travels south to settle some outstanding accounts.

Very bad.

The first part was still nice and self-aware of its own shortcomings and able to make a virtue of it, part 2 is mainly aware of what made part 1 a (very relative) success. The result is a very forced film that tries too hard and is therefore really not funny anymore.

Movie also looks a lot worse. The clumsy effects from part 1 stood out in a weekday but not really amateurish-looking film. In part 2 it is pure cheap amateurism what we get to see. Also annoying caricatures (like a children's movie sometimes) and really bad one-liners. Quantity over quality.

Occasionally there are some nice ideas (the anvil and the little ones) but the effect is really lacking. Too bad, because this should have been so moronic that it was fun again. If they had imposed it a little less hard, it probably would have been successful too.

Seems like a lot of text and wasted effort for a movie like this, but part 1 was really very entertaining. This second part is a cheap attempt at easy success, where all spontaneity seems to have disappeared.

Nipped 1.0*

Incredibly bad sequel. Such a shame that the cheapness radiates from it. The actors act horribly and the humor is of a particularly childish level. That voice of Jack Frost alone.

The makers try to make it bloody, but what good is this if you notice from miles away that it is wax berry juice with ketchup. Our killer snowman is clearly a man in a suit and here and there some bath foam and whipped cream, which of course is supposed to represent the melting. The murders are occasionally creative, all well thought out, but nowhere well executed. All so low budget.

Also rather weak storylines with the baby snowmen and the angry snowman father as the absolute low point. Or no, it could be even worse, a snowman with a banana allergy?

The first "Jack Frost" is a valuable cult hit, this sequel is certainly not. Brings no added value at all and is junk from the very beginning!

Mediocre slasher sequel to a mediocre slasher film. It is quite logical that a cult film like Jack Frost eventually gets a sequel, but if that is as lazy as this film, then I don't need it anymore. Bad acting, lousy decor and a director who doesn't quite know what gear to shoot in, that's how I can best describe Jack Frost 2. Of course that is combined with some original and especially funny kills, but they are also inferior to the first part. I've seen a lot of Christmas horror movies in my life and the level isn't exactly high, but that doesn't mean that Jack Frost 2 has to settle for mediocre. Even with a low budget you can still do your best as a director, but unfortunately that was no longer possible with this film. By the way, the addition of baby Jacks was something they should have left out.
