Tsukiko, who is a member of a photography club at her school, always feels inferior to her sister Tomie. Tomie is breathtakingly beautiful and very popular with male fellow students. This includes Toshio, the boy Tsukiko is secretly in love with. One day, Tomie is killed in a tragic accident right in front of Tsukiko and she has been plagued by nightmares ever since. A year later, Tsukiko and her parents celebrate Tomie's birthday, who would have turned eighteen. But then there is a knock on the door and to their surprise it is Tomie. Her parents burst into tears, but Tsukiko's gut tells her that something isn't right...
