De Engel van Doel plot

Sandwiched between the Antwerp container port and a nuclear power station is the village of Doel. A village that for decades stood in the way of the megalomaniac expansion plans of the port of Antwerp, but now has to make way for good. While Doel dies a slow death, the elderly Emilienne tries to maintain the semblance of a normal life. At her kitchen table we see village life going on imperturbably. But when her best friends leave, the village pastor dies and the demolition begins, there seems to be no stopping it. Everything indicates that Emilienne will also have to let go of her village.
