Vallen plot

20-year-old Lucas leaves his hometown of London for a while and moves for a while with his mother to France, where he has also lived in his youth. There he again meets his former girl next door Caitlin, and of course there is romance in the air. But the past weighs heavily on their relationship, because Lucas knows nothing about the war and what happened to both their families. Caitlin's emotional involvement in those events stands between them, making Lucas more accessible to the deceptive gossip of the charismatic but far-right Benoit. Lucas does stupid things, and it will take a tragic accident to make him realize his stupidity.

Haven't read the book yet, but I definitely will. The film is actually a setback: there was so much in it, but it doesn't come out. Characters and important moments are barely visible and the climax is very tame. Not a bad movie, but a little too dull.
